How Textify works
Textify is built on Apple’s Vision framework, the text recognition engine built into macOS (VNRecognizeTextRequest), used at its most accurate level with language correction. Everything happens on the Mac:
- Textify reads each page at full resolution and finds every line of text, with its position on the page.
- When you save a PDF, it writes each line as invisible text exactly over the same words of the page, so the PDF can be searched, selected and copied.
- The image settings you choose (colors, quality, size, document enhancer) only apply to the saved pages, after the recognition, so they never lower its accuracy. With the original settings, the original PDF pages are kept as they are.
There is no Textify server: documents are never uploaded, Textify needs no account and no internet connection, and it collects no data.
